About the event

Welcome to The Map Room's Gaotai Mountain Hiking and Reflection Experience! It's a beautiful, accessible way to get away from it all and get out into nature. Come reflect, recenter yourself, and let it all go for a while.

Please read the following before the hike:

Be sure to do the following to prepare for the hike:

  • Bring an old fashioned pad of paper with pen, pencil, and whatever you need for journaling, sketching, and reflection.
  • Confirm your transportation details with The Map Room
  • Download and familiarize yourselves with the simple, user-friendly GPX (route map) for use on a GPX tracking app (in the 'Nitty-Gritty' section, above). You can use Gaia GPS (free, paid; a Map Room affiliate, and my own personal choice!) or any other similar app you are comfortable with.
  • View The Map Room's trail map here.

Further information:

  • Be ready to be turn off your electronics and bring your phone only for emergency use! The point is to unplug, after all...
  • Click here for a Google Maps link to the trailhead.
  • In order to preserve the natural experience for everyone, this event is strictly non-smoking, non-vaping, non-binglang, and non-anything else like that.

The trail is actually quite simple, but having a basic understanding of where you are going is essential whenever you go into the wild. Please familiarize yourselves with the information above ahead of time.
